If you didn't read my last blog you can here.. https://www.gymandtonicmovement.com/post/somedays-i-feel-like-a-fraud
Since publishing the blog I've had some feedback that instead of inspiring yo
u to exercise it actually made you just want to stay at home and rest.
Which was the point.
I've said this before and I'll say it again, quality rest outweighs everything else in your life.
I speak from experience when I say, we have so much going on, in our heads, in our lives; children, work, relationships, households, so sometimes it feels too much to add one more thing.
If you are sleeping poorly and struggling to manage all the things you need to do daily then you need to take a break.
When were stressed our body needs time to rest, to heal, to balance our stress hormones and if we are constantly pushing the boundaries you will never enjoy the benefits exercise can offer, and also that life has.
You don't need to train 5 days a week so long as you're sleeping well, managing your stress, eating well and caring for yourself.
When you're taking care of these things, 1-3 sessions per week of exercise is enough.
So instead of pushing yourself to go for that extra workout, even though you desperately need sleep take the night off.
Get off your phone, do a meditation, eat something nutritious- this is not an opportunity to treat yourself, and rest.
I get that it's hard when you have kids, but kids are harder when you're not fully charged.
I'm loving managing my stress and feeling the joy of life again, when I'm not just surviving life.
If you're someone who is having trouble managing their stress and don't know where to start, and the idea of meditation sounds too hippie for you, then send me a DM and i've got lots of other tools which are a great starting point for stress management. @gymandtonicmovement
