Today my eldest started prep, which is a big deal as my husband highlighted, "it's the start of them leaving home. The slippery slope of independence".
Yea, thanks for that reminder Harry 🙄🙄🙄.
A question I think we all ask or get asked is "did you cry?"
While I fully expected to be a big mess, I wasn't. I was excited for her to be starting the next stage of her journey.
For the last 5 years I have tried to make the absolute most of my time with her (and now Kora).
For me one of the biggest blessings is that I have been able to bring her to my sessions since she was 9 weeks old. She has grown up knowing what connection, movement & friendship look like. She is so confident, kind & welcoming because she has seen it demonstrated for the last 5 years by our community.
I know not everyone has the opportunity to take their children to work, and some people don't want to which is excellent too (somedays I also didn't want to).
But it has been an absolute blessing to be supported & surrounded by women who all understand motherhood (even if they're not mothers themselves) and the desire to prioritise yourself but also spend time with your babies.
I hope all the mothers who's babies have started or returned to school today and this week feel a sense of pride and excitement, while also embracing the bittersweet sadness of it all.
Just a reminder all our sessions are baby and kid friendly so you have the freedom to bring them as you like. If you're looking to start a free trial then you can reach out to me on social media @gymandtonicment (fb & insta).
