How to manage HANGER in a calorie deficit. 🍔

When you start losing fat your hunger increases, and for the first week or 2 that hunger is tolerable and you can generally ignore it pretty easily. 💆‍♀️


Then we start to move into those later weeks and the hunger becomes almost unbearable and you start to question whether you really want or lose weight, you over eat and think to yourself you'll start again next week.


Before you start your next fat loss phase, let's break down why your hunger is worse after a couple of weeks, and what you can do to mitigate the hanger. 🍕


Our bodies are constantly trying to achieve homeostasis which is a process where the body will work hard to return it's self to it's stable, 'normal' body.


What this means for fat loss:

Your body has become comfortable at the weight you're NOT comfortable at.


When you move into a calorie deficit and your body moves further away from that 'normal' weight your body starts fighting for it's life to get back to that weight. It sends messages to all parts of your body to stop your deficit, eat more and bring you back to your previous weight. 🧠


This process is normal, and in many situations good.


But when we have a goal, it's not always helpful.


So what can you do moving forward?

1.     Now you understand why your body is levelling up the signals of hunger and rage, you can just grit your teeth, bare it and get through till the end. This is the fastest and easiest option if you just want to get shit done. 😑

2.     Have a diet break, eat a bit more for a week or 2. Let those hormones and signals calm TF down, then head back into your deficit with renewed energy. This option is obviously slower but more reliable for women who are already carrying a massive mental load. 🙋‍♀️


Fat loss isn't easy for anyone; you'll see even the most dedicated trainers, who make a living off their physique will complain about hunger when they're in a deficit. The most important thing is choosing what works best for you for consistent achievements
