I'll tell you my secret..

A question I get all the time is how do I love food so much and eat so much of everything and still maintain a relatively normal weight (yes my weight does flucuate, which is normal).
I'll tell you my secret..
I'm actually VERY fussy.
Not with food specifically, but quality of food.
I LOVE burgers, but I won't eat McDonald's (unless it's the only option).
I LOVE cheese, but I generally like to pair with with nuts & fruit- it enhances the flavour.
I LOVE chocolate, but I prefer dark chocolate because the richness of flavour means I don't need to eat a whole block to feel satisfied.
Pizza is a waste because it's often sparsely dressed and mostly crust, so i prefer it's made at home or 'La Prima' pizza.
I don't like ice cream, unless the weather is boiling hot.
Chicken schnitzel is the most boring meal alive- along with most pub food.
Soft drink is the same as ice cream, only good on a hot day.
I could give you loads of examples of other foods like this, but I feel you get the point.
My palette and my body prefer to eat meals that are full of diversity and flavour.
And no, I haven't always been this way.
Hungry Jacks & booze were a staple in my 20's and it's just been over time and effort that I've been able to turn what I want & what I need into the same thing.
And I'm sure some of you are going to say 'but it's so easy, cheap and fast so I don't have to think'.
But I ask you this, is takeaway or average quality food actually any cheaper or easier than eggs on toast, baked beans, or a mini fruit and cheese platter?
In my opinion, no it's not. Especially as lots of easy foods can be stored, or you generally have in the fridge/ cupboard most of the time.
Now if you choose McDonalds, a bucket load of cheese or chocolate because they're the thing you love most in this world then I applaud that for you. I'm never going to shame someone for their food choices.
I share these perspectives because all I want is for you to make decisions that align with your happiest & healthiest self.
So if you're mindlessly choosing foods then thinking how yuck they are, then maybe you need to become more fussy like me.
It might take time, but it's worth it. You'll look & feel better and happier for it.
xx
