With so many new subscribers to our emails recently I want to share a bit about who I am and what Gym & Tonic Movement means to me.
Hi, I'm Shea- owner operator of Gym & Tonic Movement.
I have two beautiful babies (2&4) and an incredibly supportive husband.
I have a Bachelor of Nursing; I am a postpartum, return to exercise & injury prevention exercise specialist; I have a certificate in nutrition coaching; I am PCOS exercise specialist and I am a boot camp specialist.
I LOVE food, books, movies, drawing, laughing, food. I also host a podcast @thecommonex, and I'm originally from Adelaide.
Oh & I'm an only child!
I created Gym & Tonic Movement in 2017 to transition from the Royal Australian Air Force, while I completed my Bachelor of Nursing.
Little did I know how much I was going to love the business and community that I would build.
One of my main focus' with Gym & Tonic Movement is empowering women to love exercise, and using it as a tool of self care. This comes by understanding and appreciating the joyful feelings that come with movement, rather than just focusing on the physical results we are encouraged to rely on.
Physical goals and results can be a great way to find motivation to start a fitness regime, but that motivation won't last forever. Whereas the feelings of happiness, calm, health and connection are much easier to draw upon.
The way I help nourish these emotions are:
by encouraging a celebration of just moving your body, rather than ALWAYS trying to smash the last session
finding connection with other likeminded women, who are settling into the balance phase of there lives
laughing, chatting and bringing the best parts of you forward in social environment. you must be able to laugh at yourself
Our community is so supportive, with members forming genuine relationships, that carry on beyond our sessions. These relationships offer accountability & enthusiasm to attend; rather that just going to training to because you 'think' you should.
As someone who hasn't always 'fit in' my biggest and still main focus is that I provide a safe place where women feel included and comfortable in being themselves. No one will feel left out or like they don't belong.
